i know this is a stupid question, but what do we have to write for the personal statement for D.O school? can i use the same one as for M.D? i'm applying to both, so should i write 2 separate personal statements?

They are very similar, but you have to include information on why you are interested in osteopathic medicine on the DO statement.

I started w/ my MD statement, and then (due to different space requirements and because I wanted to cover a few different things in my DO statement) tweaked it to fit. So... kinda?

You can say pretty much the same thing but with 2000 less characters of space. Keep in mind that your personal statement is just the beginning. Develop a solid main thesis in it. You can cover the details in the essay questions in the secondaries and in your interview. I wish someone would have told me that when I went through the application process last year.

Be sure that even though you are adapting for your DO application don't put something in there just because you think that is what they want to hear. For example, don't claim an interest in musculoskeletal manipulation if you don't really have one. No need to see "I'm applying DO just in case!" just be careful.

thanks everyone for replying, i really appreciate it
how long is the personal statement supposed to be? 1 page single space right? i just want to make sure
