I am applying again this year - I have the recommendation letters uploaded by my Professors and Doctors last year - its all dated 2013, since I applied last year.

Can I reuse the same Reco. letters again this year for my applications (because its kinda less than a year old) ?

I checked with one of my Prof's for a more recently dated letter, and she mentioned that it should be ok to reuse the ones I already received last year as a part of my last years application.

Can anyone throw some light on whether this is ok ?

Thanks!!!

I updated my letters of recommendation when I applied the second time around. Just give the professors some updated information on you, and ask that the date be updated as well. Not entirely sure if it was necessary to do, but it can't hurt your application.

Basically I dont have anything new about myself thats relevant to be added - its the same old profile I had from 10 months ago - Also, to be frank getting it done from them again is kinda like soo difficult !!!

I think the benefits of getting an updated letter of evaluation from each of your recommenders strongly outweighs reusing them. They don't have to rewrite the entire letter, just add a couple of sentences about your perseverance in pursuing medicine. I'm sure they already have the letters saved on their computer and it would take them 10 minutes to help you out. Also, keep in mind that a lot of medical schools highly value letters of recommendation. It will reflect positively on you if your recommenders were willing to write on your behalf two years in a row. It really is a simple thing to help your application.

You might as well just go through the process to get them to update the letters, email them, or visit with them and give them some interesting things you did over the past year like everyone else says. It's a chore, but so is applying to medical school, and doing something like this may be seriously beneficial.
