In Kraplan, under ecology, it says that "a species is any group of similar living organisms that are capable of reproducing".

But cant a horse and donkey mate- isnt that what a mule is, only its sterile???

so then is a species a group of organisms that are capable of reproducing and producing FERTILE offspring (or off-spring capable of reproducing)

i think your definition is right. i took ecology last year, i wish i would have paid more attention, but i'm sure it has something to do with reproducing and producing viable offspring-increasing their fitness.

you are right my friend.

I remember my prof saying
species= a group of individuals capable of mating.

and by mating he meant without manipulation from an unnatural source.. ie.. humans.
