I took some time away from school, and this semester, I'll be going back to a local college part, and working full-time. The question I have is really about the working part of it though.

The position is basically as an Assistant to the Lab Manager, with the purposing being in 3 months to take over for the Lab Manager. This Manager basically runs the lab, hires/fires people, deals with customer orders/concerns, sets the price, is basically the boss.

I'm fairly excited about the prospects of this, as it sounds like something the Ad-coms might view favorably (and its an excellent job pay/resume wise).

Typically I know they want to see research work, while this is more straight commerical lab work.

Do you think they would care one way or another with this, or am I just deluding myself into thinking this might help. 🙂

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I had 2 years of experience as an MT in a commercial lab, which seems to have been a big 'plus in my application. The feeling is that understanding of physiologic concepts related to lab medicine equates to an ability to grasp medical studies.

Luckily, I also had some part time research experience, which seemed as important.

I think in any case, they will look for your motives to work in medicine and your abilities. If these relate to your lab work, it will help. The managerial elements of the job probably won't be as important as the technical and health care (per se) aspects.

This lab does help speed pharm research by automating a lot of the steps necessary for various drug testing, so it is related to the medical field, not as much as I'd like though.

The Research/Clinical experience is definetely next on my list of things to add, just need to get myself straightened out first.

Anyone else (and thanks for the input Supadupafly) 🙂
