I was wondering if anyone on this board had any insight to DAT scoring. I took the DAT this previous tuesday and my scores are as follows:

PA - 18
QR - 19
RC - 19
BI - 17
GC - 20
OC - 18
TS - 18
AA - 18

My question concerns the calculation of the academic average. According to the official results sheet given to me at the prometric test site, it says "The academic average is the average of five scores rounded to the nearest whole number: Quantitative Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Biology, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry." However, my average of those five scores is 18.6 (93/5) which if properly rounded would be a 19. Is this not correct? I have found numerous examples of other averages rounded up to the nearest whole number on this forum and other sites. I am considering disputing this, but I wanted to hear what you guys had to say first.

I think you're right.....maybe they made a mistake.

I would call them next week and confirm that for sure. good luck and congrats on finishing.

I think it is an average of RC, QR, and TS. Not the sciences individually.

That would explain the 18, however, it is explicitly stated on the results page that AA is an average of qr, rc, bi, gc, and oc, not ts. I will call them next week to get to the bottom of this.

I talked to the lady at ADA testing services. Apperently, there is a flaw in the code that determines the academic average. My scores will be audited and the AA will be appropriately rounded to a 19 (from an 18). According to the woman @ ADA, they have been aware of this problem since December and new updated prometric software will be installed and running starting early February for those who are concerned.
