Question regarding digital and physical impression

Digital impressions used intraoral scanning devices that will scan the surface of the dentition and render and 3-D digital model. From there, you can continue and create a 3-D printed model if desired. Physical impressions typically involve using an alginate material to take an impression and then from that you fill the negative space to get a stone model of the dentition.
