I decided not to apply this cycle to pick up my gpa and have more time to study for DATs. I understand that if I got accepted this cycle it would be for 2012. If I apply during next year's cycle is there anything I can do to get in 2012 and not have to wait a whole year for fall 2013?

I am confused with your message. If you are planning to apply for next Fall then you need to apply now.
When are you graduating? If you are applying for 2013, then do research, volunteer, work, travel etc.

if your question is whether you can apply after Dec 2012 and get in class for Sep 2012 answere is no

Application deadlines vary by school. Dates range from Sept 15 to Feb 1, with a lot being Dec 1 or Jan 1. Applying anywhere near the deadline is probably a waste of time and money unless you have perfect everything...and even then it might be too late. There is interviewing/acceptaning after the school deadlines, but you cannot apply after that date.

It doesn't technically end until school starts for that following year. However most schools have deadlines either in December or January. But if you are applying that late you are probably wasting your money anyway cause the school's you are applying to hope that their class is filled as soon as possible, the first day of acceptances is Dec. 1st.

I think you mixed that up. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you meant he cannot apply after february 2012 (or schools deadlines for this cycle) and get in for Aug/Sep 2012. I you apply next cycle, you'll be applying the summer before classes start and yea no lol

the reason i was asking is because I know of a guy who actually applied after his junior year to DS and got into NYU that fall without having to go through with his senior year in college. Maybe he really impressed the school or whatnot, but nonetheless I am going to apply after my ssenior year and was wondering if there are exceptions or loopholes. lol stupid question i know, I just don't want to wait that extra year. Maybe that kid has serious connections in the school.

Must be serious connections... I applied beginning of June and didn't even hear back about interview from them until mid august and now I've picked the earliest week for interviews, which is the week of sept. 16...
IMPOSSIBLE. Unless he has supernatural connections.
On a side note, my employer said that she DID get accepted into NYU for a previous cycle because they needed to fill up the slots... but she is close to 50 now and the competition back in the day was probably a lot more lax.
What are you in such a rush to? I personally believe that a lot of pre-dents fail to believe that they will be doing what they do for the next couple of decades... Slow down, take your time and enjoy what is happening now. Explore around, mature some more, and take some time to understand yourself.
I don't think I'm too far off the mark that adcoms generally look upon slightly older applicants more fondly. After all, the average of first year students is around a 24 or so...
you're right, that year off will be pretty valuable to me considering I will be doing it for the next couple of decades. My mom's a dentist and I have been around it for soo long already being in her office. Just was eager to start already.
