Question regarding IA's

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think I had one of these as an undergrad. I think it was an alcohol infraction.

When it happened I never even thought about it decreasing my chances of getting into med school. It didn't.

You need to acknowledge these in your apps in a mature way, but they won't be a hindrance if you do that. In fact they may set you apart from other 'boring' applicants if you have reinvented yourself since then.

I was accepted with a much worse IA than yours. However by the time I applied it had been 9 years since the incident. You need to be able to accept responsibility, sound like you’re sorry and articulate understanding of why your actions were inappropriate. The more time in between the IA and the present, the better. It’s also helpful to show adcoms you’re not a party animal, an entitled brat or emotionally unstable (or any other negative things adcoms might assume about you based on two alcohol/noise IAs) by taking positions of responsibility and contributing to your community.
