Question regarding letter of recommendation

I read somewhere that you can send a letter from a TA as long as it is endorsed and signed by the professor. What does endoring really means? How is the professor going to endorse it? I am pretty sure he is not going to say: My name Joe Blow and I approve this message.
Can someone with the same experience tell me how this is done. My TA wrote a super nice letter but he had no idea how to have the professor endorse it.
