Hi guys,

Quick question. I did not mention to any of my LoR writers that they should include a signature on their letter (does this mean they need to print the letter, sign it, then scan it?). Either way, does the AMCAS letter upload form require this or should I follow up and have them resubmit their letters?

Thanks!

Some letter writers will just know this based on passed years, but if you have someone that does not write letters for AMCAS often, then they will not know it needs to be included as AMCAS does not state it nor do they require it for a letter to be uploaded. Its actually the individual schools that require it, so AMCAS does not care. I would say follow up with everyone of your letter writers.

The best and safest way to address this is to explain to every letter writer that they need to sign and use letterhead. Just make it a blanket statement for all. Most of the med schools I applied to required this, definitely a signature.

You can call AMCAS and ask them about specific letters you are concerned about. They can tell you whether your person signed the letter or did/didn't use letterhead. I was concerned about one prof and called, found out that he automatically assumed he should sign and use letterhead, so anxiety was averted..
