my dentist wants to know if there is a place to put where he graduated from, etc. to validate that he is indeed a dentist. he is confused because this seems like a honor system more than anything. I don't want to send him the upload info until the letter is done b/c he might lose the email. so does anyone know if he can "prove" that he is indeed a dentist?

i kinda want to know this as well. How would they verify if your referees are indeed who say they are...

Honor system. I doubt the schools will call the clinic to speak to the dentist. Then again, faking that kinda thing will not get you far (not saying you are, but just stating a fact). Who you are and what you have done in that clinic will come through during interview. Just submit and hope you get an invite soon.

well he was wondering if he should include his credentials in the letter

Most LOR's are written with a letterhead that shows the dentists practice and contact information (at least, in my experience). For TMDSAS (I don't know about ADDSAS), it is a requirement that the letter is submitted with the letterhead.

In addition, when signing off the letter, most dentists will include their credentials such as Dr. Blah Blah, DDS., MS, other titles, etc...
And I think they have a kind of honor system provided the letter doesn't look shady. Don't be the cool kid and have Dr. Dre write your letter. 🙁

okay ty, b/c i dont know how this upload thing work, i want to know how does the letterhead thing work. they do have official letterhead where the letter can be written on, however, i am prompting him for electronic upload... so how can that be done? neither of us are tech saavy

Oh, sorry bud. Like I said, I'm unfamiliar with the ADDSAS system. For ours, we mail our letters to a third party who uploads them for us and sends them off to the dental schools. If it is up to him to electronically upload it rather than mailing it to someone else and them uploading it, I assume there should be an e-mail option, or fax, or scanning it. 🙁 I know I'm being as useless as a peanut butter sandwich without the jelly but good luck.

Print the letter on the paper that has the letterhead, then scan and upload. I know it is more work, but ask him nicely and he'll probably do it for ya. 🙂

oh i was under the impression that this worked similar to turnitin.com where only text can be uploaded. if picture files work, that'd b awesome

giving this thread a bump as i am still unsure.

are there any more feedback regarding uploading a pdf/picture file of a scanned LOR (with the letterhead as the background)

has this worked for anybody else?
or does it only work with word documents (.doc, .docx, etc)

for anyone who wants to know, aadsas accepts both word documents and pdf files. so having a letterhead as background is possible if you wanna go out of your way to do that

My dentist printed out my evaluation on his letterhead paper, scanned it into his computer, saved it as a pdf file, and then uploaded it. I don't think it is really that troublesome, he insisted on having it on letterhead in order to make it more professional.
