A little background, my AMCAS application was verified yesterday and I started receiving secondaries today. I took the MCAT in May and scored 509 (126,127,128,128). 3.91cGPA, 3.88sGPA at a high caliber public school, solid EC's. FL resident. I'm registered to retake the MCAT July 28th (score release Aug 29th) and this is reflected in AMCAS... I know that some schools will not review the secondary until the pending score comes in, but I'm not sure if this is representative of the majority of schools? Essentially, I'm wondering if I should send the retake score, or even retake at all. I know that punctuality is essential and I'm wondering how waiting for a second score would affect my chances, and how many schools will not review my app until that second score comes out. I could ask each individual school but I was hoping somebody on here could give me a general answer.

Just to be clear, are you planning to actually sit for the retake? Or are you going to cancel it since you already have a competitive score?

I'll cancel it. That's the right move

I wouldn't recommend retaking. Your MCAT score is well within the IQR for most competitive medical schools.
