I'm applying this cycle.
1) Do prerequisites have an expiration?
I'm a non-traditional student who went back to college. I have all of my science classes in the last 5 years (chemistry, biology, physics, etc...), but my english, math, psychlogy, etc... are over 10 years old.
I know this depends on the school. I have not narrowed down my school choice yet because I'm focusing on MCAT and my application. Once I have more time I'm going to do more research on all the schools and possibly narrow it down to 30 schools or possibly more.
Is the best way to just contact all of the schools and ask?
Because if there is an expiration I know I need to take them in the Fall of 2015 or Spring of 2016 before I can enter medical school.
2) Questions about putting in future course work
I know in the course section of the AMCAS it gives me the option of entering future course work. I have all of my prerequisites (unless there is an expiration policy) for mostly all medical school, but there are some schools I was interested in requires I take certain courses (such as sociology).
Do I have to put on AMCAS course section when I apply to this school that I will be taking this course(s)? If I don't put it in for future course work, would the school automatically assume I won't take it in the future before I matriculate and reject me?
I'm thinking about waiting til the Spring of 2016 to take it if I need to, so it gives me time to know if I even have a change of getting in. I know come January when Spring semester start, most students won't still know there status because most get waitlisted.
Any ideas how I should go about this?
