I'm a canadian in the process of applying to ireland for med school and have been doing a lot of research on this forum and others.
It's obvious there's a lot of mixed opinions regarding the chances of coming back to canada and the US after graduation from ireland but it seems to me the general consensus is that it's possible to get into a non-competitive residency if one takes the time and effort to do well on the examinations, does electives in NA, etc.
I was just wondering what the chances are of getting into the more competitive residencies (e.g. not FM, psych, etc.) Of course I'm not 100% sure where I want to go, but i was thinking along the lines of anaesthesiology.. which i heard is not one of the MOST competitive.
could someone give me their opinion as to whether it would be feasible for me to come back to canada for this program??
if not directly to residency.. is it do-able for me to go the US for residency and then come back to canada to practice as an anesthesiologist?
thanks!!
