Hi guys!

I'm relatively new to this forum, so I hope I posted this in the correct place. I have a question for current students or really anyone who may know of any pharmacy scholarships.

I got my BA and will be attending pharmacy school Fall 2011. I've looked everywhere for scholarships and I've found various ones for students who are already in pharmacy school (ones available for NCPA, APhA, etc) and I've also found ones for roughly 5K where a big chain like Walmart can give out if you have some sort of contract to work there a few years after school I think. I will also be filling out fafsa and looking into merit scholarships at my school (although I don't think there are any...?)

What I'm wondering is I would like to apply for some scholarships during my spring semester senior year (current semester) and also this summer. Are there any scholarships available for people like me who are about to attend pharmacy school? I have searched before for pre-pharmacy scholarships and most of them were for high school seniors undergoing the 6 year program.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I have gotten several scholarships, but they have all been through my college of pharmacy. I would recommend contacting your college for information or looking to see if they have a link on their website.

The only outside scholarship I have ever applied for is the Tylenol scholarship. I think the application is due in the spring sometime. I don't think I'm going to try for it again because it is pretty hard to get and a lot of work went into my last application.

I would advise you to steer clear of scholarships that force you into working for a retail chain or particular hospital system (IHS and military are an exception to this). People quite frequently change their career plans once pharmacy school starts and end up locked into a job they hate due to a scholarship they took.

Contact your school's financial aid office and see what they know of. Like you said though, most of the scholarships I'm aware of are for already matriculated students.
