Question regarding secondary applications

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So heres my question. I'm applying very broadly, and my application is very good except my MCAT score in one particular section. I was wondering if I recieve a secondary application, have they essentially gave me a green light and OK'ed my general application (personal statement, MCAT score, GPA, etc.), or will I recieve a secondary AND THEN be denied due to my MCAT score, after of course I spend the money. Or will this of course vary from school to school. I looked on many websites and some simply say that if you meet a GPA standard, your automatically sent a secondary. I jsut want to know if I recieve a secondary, is it possible that they're OK with my MCAT score. Thanks.

Depends on the school and depends on the score. It also depends how low that one section is. You must be more specific.

It's school specific. Some screen pre-secondary while others screen post-secondary submission. If you receive a supplemental to a school which screens pre secondary then that basically means your stats make you eligible for a secondary. Now I don't think that means that you can't be denied due to your MCAT score.

I think the biggest "green light" you can get with your MCAT scores is if you receive an interview invite. At that point, it's what you've done, how you articulate yourself, and how well you fit into their mission, that will be the deciding factor for the schools decision.
