Just got my step 2 back, and did ok with a 242, 99. step 1 was 243, 99. Should I even bother submitting this or is it not worth it?

I just did with a 243/99 and 247/99 for step I and II respectively...so I hope so.

I just figure it's not going to really help me or hurt me one way or another. Although I guess it shows some consistency. thanks for the advice

I think it actually does help a little bit. It sort of re-affirms your step I score with a solid step II score. The posters who get 260/270 I/II scores will disagree, but for us normal med students I think it is a good idea.

haha true- my roommate just got a 277 and it made me feel a bit inadequate

how would you submit it?

dear admissions committee,

I just got my board scores back and I received a xxx on my step 2?

I can't imagine it changing their thoughts about you in any significant way except maybe this kid is weird.

I would just bring a copy of your score report with you to your interviews and hand it to your interviewers at that time. You can also ask the coordinator to add it to your file at that point. I think that's the best way to go because I doubt step 2 score will affect your #interview invites so no reason to go crazy mass distributing it!

Not sure if trying to subtly brag about board scores

(insert Fry face here)

or actually serious.

My understanding is that step 1 scores serve as an application screen and that after you are invited to interview, they mean next to nothing. Step 2 scores are really only useful if they show a marked improvement from a bad step 1.

Since you have an excellent step 1 score and a similar step 2 score, I don't think it does anything for you. If I were interviewing you and you brought out these step 2 scores, I would be confused and a little put off. Like you were trying to focus the interview on your stats instead of who you are. But others might disagree with me.

Who cares, dude?

All a Step 2 score of 277 shows me is that you spent probably hundreds of irreplaceable hours of youth over-studying for a mostly meaningless exam.

Congratulations. I take it your roommate doesn't get out much. Btw, that score doesn't sound real. All these people who claim to get those kind of scores on Step 1 or Step 2, for the amount of people who ACTUALLY get scores that high, you would expect they all come on this website and brag about it immediately after they get their score report.

definitely not trying to brag, especially considering I don't think my scores are all that great- slightly above average for ophthalmology.

I just wasn't sure what to do with the step 2 ck score i have. I guess I'll just submit it to CAS and not bring it up unless asked
