question style?

i'm here with UW (also seen some Kaplan Qs, not done any NBMEs)

it seems to me that the question style requires more thinking (need extra jump in the mind to get to the answer) than those in Step 2CK.... and it doesn't make sense why that would be so...

I guess the logic behind making UW harder than the real thing is that "if you can answer these (UW), you can answer the questions on the real exam".

I don't completely agree with that, as attempting harder questions could demoralize you and ultimately be a counter-productive way of studying.


But many people swear by UW so I guess it's not so bad..

i took step2ck already and did the UW for it,
maybe i was more used to the subject than step1, but still, Qs seem to be different in thinking requirement

You took Step2 CK before the step 1? Is that a common occurrence? (genuinely curious).

i dont know how common it is,
i did it all backwards: 2cs -> 2ck -> now this thing

Peter since u did everything backwards as u say.......Do u feel that its ok, to take cs, before step 1 and step 2? I am a graduate as well.

depends how ok you are with the clinical knowledge-so you can learn "fast" the differentials and some treatment, write the note, etc-what's required by 2cs,

if it takes more than 2 months or if clinical knowledge is far away-haven't read on medicine for a couple years - need to go the regular way 1-2ck-2cs

2cs is 'easy', dont waste time 'studying' for it, 1 & 2 are much more important and you'll have the knowledge already by the time you get to 2cs
