Hello fellow NYUCD students. I'm going into D1 for 2009/2010.

Anyways, I just received an email regarding the tuition and it states that the 2009/2010 Fall tuition is approximately $35612...

Does this mean that the Spring tuition will also be approximately $35612?? Or is it going to be cheaper than the Fall tuition??

I just find it hard to believe that the tuition went from ~62k to ~71k in just one year (if Fall tuition=Spring tuition). Is this the trend I'm supposed to expect while I'm in school for 4 years?

Help will be greatly appreciated.

OK~According to my package, our tuition will be $52510 and total estimated expense will be $76280. Everything is for one yr.

Plus, it is saying the tuition will increase approximately 5% every subsequent year. Increse only anually, not per semester!!

If u are correct, almost 10K is increased out of the blue. WOoo~~ 😱

to make you guys feel a little better. My school USC costs 100,611 a year. I thank God, I already got my Navy HPSP scholarship.

If our tuition did indeed increase to 71k/year, with living expenses we will also be at around 100k.

Can any current NYUCD students clarify this? Is bimmer correct (I hope so!)?

Yup.. I heard from a friend as well that you guys are paying $18k for 50% of winter term, which means you will be paying 18k by 4 = $72k for 2009/2010. So roughly a 62k-->72k increase in tuition over one year would be a 15-16% tuition increase.

Numbers like these are just insane. How much is it going to increase over the next few years? I wouldn't be surprised if some nyu students drop out because of this, which is really unfortunate. But beware, all other schools are increasing their tuitions as well! But I'm not sure by how much.

Purple Package

Tutition $52510
Living expenses $21600
Health insurance $2170
Total $76280

New e-mail bill

Total $71224 + Living expenses
= $71224 + $21600

$76280 ----------> $92824 (Estimated values)

My new budget
Total $71224 + My estimated living expenses

= $107224 (minimum)

Concerning only actual fixed expenses
Before
$54680 / yr (Living expenses excluded)

After
$71224 / yr (Living expenses excluded)

What are included that may be excluded later? Maybe, none? So, do I just have to expect 5% annual increase from this first tuition later on?

Anyway, I don't feel good after I hear that my tuition increased suddenly.

Not yet relieved fully!

Tell me if those values are just for tuition without living expenses. ASAP

your second semester, you wont be paying for the instruments and vital book again. So, you should only be paying for the actual tuition and fees only.

Chill out guys. There's no way there will be a 10k increase: that's just not possible. Term 1 will be much more expensive than term 2 🙂

so for semester two, are you saying that the bill will be around ~6k cheaper than semester one?

thanks in advance

yes. no vital book and equipment fee.

the name of any streets that are really close to NYUCD where I can get off-campus housing?

Strangely, it's difficult for me to understand their maps.

First of all, I want to know which part of Manhattan NYUCD is located at.

Then, I want to hear a few names of the streets that are close to NYUCD.

Actually, I remember there is a good map on their homepage, but I can't find it anymore.

Guys help me, so I can get started.

For example, one of their dorms is located in Brooklyn which is pretty far from our campus. I am now looking for one that is within walking distance.

Visbimmer,

NYUCD is located in the Gramercy Park neighborhood in Manhattan. So if you are searching for apartments by neighborhood I would try Gramercy or Murray Hill. The school itself is basically on the corner of 24th st and 1st ave so I would think anything within 20 blocks (4th st - 44th st) would be a decently short walk. Usually 20 city blocks is approximately one mile so you can make assumptions based on that. Additionally I would say you can look for anything from 1st Ave to 10th Ave and that would include Lexington and Park Ave as well. I have found www.hopstop.com to be very helpful when trying to determine how long it would take to commute from one address or intersection to the school. I hope that helps!

Hi guys, I'm an incoming D1 too but I have not received the email about our tuition. When did u guys get it? Also, does anyone know how much money in grants NYU will give out? A luttie hopeful but any bit of money for tuition helps!

can anyone answer my question above?? I also would like to know if and when need-based or merit-based scholarships are offered. thanks!!

Any news? I didn't get anything so it makes me wonder a bit.

The reason USC is so expensive is because the curriculum is full year round meaning there are 3 tri semesters that you have to pay for 3 years (9 semesters) + 2 semesters senior year.

If the above numbers are correct, then NYU now has the most expensive tuition per semester in the nation.

I think the e-mail was just for international students.

Now, I wonder if international students are paying more. 😕

I will check this out today!
