Can you transfer an unfilled, original Rx for a partial box of insulin pens that was stamped and signed by an ophthalmologist?

If the other pharmacist is willing to fill it then I would transfer it. Have you spoken to the office as to why they wrote Insulin RX for this patient? Does this patient have a PCP or an endocrinologist to write insulin rx for him/her?

Better script: unfilled, original eRx for a partial box of diastat (only 1 of the 2 syringes authorized, 0 refills) where the prescriber was alive at time the prescription was written but has since deceased.

Control scripts die with the prescriber according to CVS as I recall. We had a local prescriber die and the system wouldn't let us refill any of his controls, I guess because the DEA number is no longer valid? This was years ago so the finer points are lost in my memories.

I would only dispense the Diastat if it was DAW and the script required that one epipen was also dispensed with the script. Something along the lines of "Must fill both or neither".

Follow up question: Would you accept “sorry also you must dispense one epipen with this” in the notes of the eRx as an acceptable prescription for the epipen that’s required to fill this?

Edit: bonus follow up: at this point do we consider submitting this as a compound rx?

Bonus bonus: if yes to bonus, does that still make all this legal to fill?

I only accept notes in the eRx if it contradicts some other element of the script, such as the SIG line saying "BID" but the note field says "TID". Ideally the medication is Norvasc 10mg. Or any strength of warfarin.

Ran into this problem a few times years ago. Never got a call from a drs rep and usually would find out from the patients themselves. Assuming the drug didn't require intensive monitoring, I would still fill the rxs. They were valid at the time of writing and stopping them would cause patients undue hardship.
