i know this seems like it would be pretty intuitive, however does someone who reapplies year after year have a better chance then people who have applied less times then them? this is also assuming the reapp has done something to improve his/her resume every year. also if the situation arises that 2 people have very simular applications one being a 2nd year app the other being a 3rd year app. who get the thumbs up?

It's hard to say how 2 similar applicants would be evaluated, if the main difference was the number of times they applied. The one who applied fewer times might be viewed more favorably, based on the fact that this person has less blemished to improve upon. Then again, the other person might be viewed more favorably, based on that person's dedication.

IMHO, I would suggest that that you shouldn't be afraid to apply and fail, because you can always improve yourself and reapply. However, you probably shouldn't apply without a reasonable change for success.

That is definitely a tough one. I wouldn't look too deeply into what the admissions are thinking. This is strictly my opinion and personal experience, but it very much seems that everyone is more or less a clean slate at the start of a new cycle and if your numbers are still not good then they will probably give you a pat on the back for props on your 5th app cycle and still take the first yr with one pt better on the MCAT. hehehehe
