Is it true that it's better to go to a dental school in the location where you plan to practise after graduation? Like... My plan after I obtain my DDS is to practice in LA... so I should preferably go to a dental school here rather than going to out-of-state schools. Is that right? Thank you for your response.

Yes of course. The school in the area you want to practice will focus on taking the boards for your region. Also, after you get your degree you will have better connections in your area so it will probably be easier to find a job. Then when you run your own practice, your patients will see that you came from a nearby school that they at least recognize and perhaps are familiar with, which will help you keep them.

But it's not THAT important, just more convenient.

I'm going to the opposite coast for school!

I agree with everything but the "patients will know you went to a local school part". They will most likely not know nor care where you went to school. In addition, how would the average patient know what a "good" school is?

As for CA schools, I would highly reccomend going to a CA school because they prep you for the CA boards, which I hear aint no cakewalk!
