What would be the lowest gpa, mcat cutoff for med school that you guys can think of that would still give an aplpicant a decent shot? I still have a year of undergrad and a year of postbacc work left before I take the mcat and apply and I know it ultimately depends on many other factors besides grades, but I was just curious as to how you all feel.

Thanks,

J 🙂

oh and the overall gpa that I expect to have when I apply would be somewhere around 3.3-3.4 range with a similar BCP gpa (this is if the whole "AACOMAS only factors in your most recent retakes and does not average the two grades" is true...I had a rough first year where I tanked in my science classes 🙁 )

Less than 3.0 GPA and 24 MCAT.
Schools that prescreen before sending out secondary apps have a cut off in this range.

I highly disagree with you'll, those are AVERAGES for most osteopathic schools. Some so higher than an MCAT of 24 and some do lower. I would say MCAT of 20 would be a cutoff depending where you apply with an all-GPA of 3.5, science maybe 3.3. 😕

I've heard rumors about people getting in with an MCAT in the 17-20 range. However these people are the exception rather than the rule. I think if you're below a 24 you need to have something standout on your application.
