I pretty much got a C in the chem class I'm taking now🙁. This is the first C I got ever in college. I got a B+ in the previous chem class I took. Is one C going to hurt your chances in getting into pharmacy school b/c my GPA is a 3.4 and it might drop alot. I'm worried.

no, but you better not get anymore Cs or you're gpa would crumble. Was it Gen Chem2 or ochem 2?

It was General Chem 2. I really do understand chemistry and I'm good at it, but my professor this time was TOUGH!! That's why I dropped 🙁. Highest grade on the final in the class was like a D. I not worried too much about orgo, since I have some knowledge about it.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I got my first C (only one so far, and hopefully my last) my freshman year in evolutionary bio.

I had to work hard to keep everything else up so I could make up for it but it worked out, and I'm about to start my P2 year at Buffalo. Just keep at it with everything else, after all, it is only one class. Good luck!

You shouldn't trip over a C too much....if anything maybe this will help, not just you but everyone else who worries about their stats.

I graduated back in 2006 from a UC, and i graduated with a 2.58 GPA. But if you think that's low, how about this? I got 7 D's at that university.
Calculus - D
General Bio series (3 quarters) - D, D, D and retook them at the same university, C, C, C+
Physics - D
Ecology and Conservational Biology - D
Anatomy - D
These are just the D's I received.
I also got a W in Immunology
I also got 2 C-'s as well in Molecular Biology, Neuroscience

I also took the PCAT twice that year, scoring composites of 33 and 49 respectively.

I mean just by looking at these stats, you got to be thinking holy ****, that's horrible as hell! But I applied to about 20+ pharmacy schools that year and of course i got no interviews. So I took two years off and I retook classes at a local community college. I retook 10 classes over.
General Bio series - A,A
General Chem series - A,A
Anatomy - A
Physiology - A
Molecular Biology - A
Biochem - A
Microbio - A
Psych - A

I retook the PCAT twice last year again and scored composites of 72 and 79 respectively.

So my GPA at the community college was a 4.0. So with that being combined with my 2.58 from the University. Pharmcas calculated my cummalative gpa to be a 2.87 gpa and that's the gpa i applied with my 2nd time. I applied to 15 pharmacy schools this time and only got 2 interviews and was waitlisted on both after my interviews. Eventually I was pulled on the waitlist a month ago to one of the schools and with all this craziness, I'll be starting pharmacy school this September 2008.

So basically, my point is you guys with your (3.0-3.5 GPA's) who are always posting up whether or not your stats are good enough or not, don't even sweat it. If someone in my case could get into pharmacy school with the horrible stats I had and worked hard for 2 years to increase their GPA, then anyone has a chance as long as you're willing to fight for it. I'm not saying that everyone with stats as bad as mine will get into pharmacy school, but i'm just trying to show that my stats are probably as bad as it's gonna get for a person applying to pharmacy school and eventually I got in, so there's always hope out there. I only mentioned the D's and C-'s i got, but i got a butt load of C's too. So for all those out there who are similar scenarios to where I was, just keep your head up and keep trying! 👍
