drguy-

i bet you that you didn't fail. i walked out of the CS exam thinking dang it, i forgot to ask this, i forgot to write this in my differential, yada yada yada. hell there was one patient that i completely bombed, but at midnight last night i got the PASS (thank GOD). Anyways, i think its natural to feel like you failed. Now at my school, they tell us that many residencies won't rank you if you have not passed CS by the time when you have to do your rank order list (maybe that is just to scare us so that we get it over with earlier in 4th year). I think this may vary from each individual residency program, however it may not be a bad idea to look at what are the basic requirements for the schools you plan on ranking (more on the graduate medical education requirement page than on the EM residency program's website page).
I bet you kicked ass, and congrats on those interviews. It was only time before you got some good news.

Relax, you probably did fine. Many people feel like they did not perform well on CS and end up passing; statistically if you're an AMG you have a fantastic chance of passing.

Also, it's 'before'...you're going to be a doctor.

i also thought i definitely failed. and i was one of those kids who did poorly on the standardized pt exams at our school. somehow i passed. most likely you did too.

only a very small percentage of US students fail, you will likely not be one of them.

haha..thnx..i dont recall see anything about step and passing b4 ranking......

The majority (at least 90%) of students at my school have not taken step 2 cs by the time the rank list is due. We all take it in Feb and match fine.

If you speak English and wash your hands before every encounter, you cannot fail.

apparantley thats not true..but..i forgot to put my gloves on in one station, realized that and then put them on in the middle of my PE!...i dunno if thats gonna count......this blows

Do they require gloves on exam? I hate wearing gloves on exam (well, unless some obvious "areas" or if the patient is all sweaty or stinky)

Don;t feel bad- I totally spaced and forgot to wash my hands in one encounter until the patient reminded me. What happens when we get a little nervous. Hopefully, all will be fine.

I am really happy with my Step 2CK score. I will be happy to tell you what worked for me.

I would suggest reviewing murmurs of every variation with every manuever. I had a ton of them on my test and even under the new model, had to identify the sound of some via the headphones. I did a ton of questions and recommend that highly as well.

Good luck!!

definitely review murmurs. and look over peds development one last time before the test--i had a video where they showed a kid doing different things and you had to decide if they were advanced/at/below level of development. OH and if you used usmle world, the actual test is easier...

GOOD LUCK! (I took it on Monday and it feels good to be done...)
