Hi. I'm a freshman in high school, and I really want to be a cardiothoracic surgeon at a top ten school.

I have almost perfected an artificial heart for frogs that I've been working on in my spare time between honors classes. I'm going to try to install one in my next biology lab.

I was wondering, do you think I should publish a research paper on this? I don't think I can be a first author, and I don't want to do anything to hurt my chances.

Also, I have just finished studying for my USMLE I, do you think I should concentrate on step II or memorize Harrison's Internal medicine first?

I am not saying that what you do is not good, but you are a FRESHMAN IN HIGHSCHOOL. Maybe try to socialize a little bit, make some friends, see what life is all about. If you are as smart as you say, finish high school early and then take a couple of years off between high school and college to do something else, travel maybe, maybe do something related to medicine and see if you actually enjoy everything that comes with it.
And for God's sake, stop talking about "I want to go to a top ten school", it sounds so childish. Maybe you have some more grow up to do before you are really ready to go into medicine.
