So, I have the whole application ready to go. But have a few questions:

1) I have 1 LOR ready and assigned to all schools but I have two more LORs to be added and assigned, so I don't know who will write them yet. So, only one is listed in the application. Can I add the last two letter writers after I submit my application?

2) For anesthesia, do I need to write another PS for the preliminary year? My current PS talks about me going into anesthesia only.

3) if I need to apply to the preliminary year do I have to get 3 more different LORs?

4) biggest question of all, if I don't have the LORs ready to go does that mean that I shouldn't submit my application on-line until I know who I will get the letters from? (I know the school needs to send this out to ERAS once I submit it)

thanks in advance..

ok since no one is answering for you, i'll try ...

for starters, im not sure if you can apply without designating letters. you dont have to have the letters yet, but i think you may need to at least have them designated. but im not sure about that. the easiest way to find out would be to apply and see if the system lets you! (if it doesn't, you'll have your answer).

you do not NEED a separate letter for your prelim year, however, many choose to write one. the easiest thing to do is take your anesthesia letter, and modify it just a little, ie add how you are requiered to do a prelim year, you want a solid medical foundation, etc.,etc. but its ok to talk about what you're going into after your prelim year- its not like they dont already know you're going on to something else. afterall, that is the definition of the prelim year.

you do NOT need different LORs. if you have 3 anesthesia ones, it might be nice to get an IM one, etc., just so they know you arent a total idiot, but it is NOT REQUIRED that you do that. my take- getting LORs is a pain in the butt, i'd just use the ones you have.

the answer to your biggest question- definitely submit your app even without LORs. they can still get your name on the list and start considering you without them. people do occassionaly get interview invites without their LORs yet. you dont want them to fill up their interview dates before you even apply.

hope i was able to help you at least a little bit!
(ps - most of these questions could have been answered by poking around in this forum... you are def not the only one with these concerns)
