So I've heard Rush has some crazy high requirements/averages when it comes to volunteering and clinical exposure. Curious if my hours are too low for me to apply there and have it be worth it. I have 220 clinical volunteering hours, 100 shadowing hours, 450 non-clinical volunteering hours. So what do you guys think? Does the average Rush matriculant really have 1000+ clinical hours?

I think it was 600 volunteer hours and 1500 clinical hours or something like that. You aren't too far off, it might be worth applying.

Do they only want scribes to apply? I wonder why they would weigh such a high amount of hours so heavily.

Rush has a very heavy focus on community involvement and many opportunities to work at clinics in underserved areas as well as rotations at Stroger which is the county hospital. They're definitely looking to attract a certain type of student which is why they have such a strong focus on volunteer experience for their applicants.

1000+ seems high. They definitely like applicants that are service oriented. You should be fine.
