So as the title says I was wait listed for Rutgers Pharmacy and I have some questions about it:

1) When do they usually notify those on the waiting list if they are accepted or rejected? I understand that we will be notified after May 1st but i was wondering around what time would i receive a reply? (like mid May, end of May, etc.)

2) What are my chances of being accepted into the pharmacy program off the waiting list and what percentage usually is accepted off of the waiting list?

My Stats(if more info is needed just let me know):
SAT:2010 CR:630 M:690 W:690
Rank: 18/486
GPA: 4.528 W
EC: National Honor Society, MuAlphaTheta, Spanish Honor Society, Co-founder and President of Allies with Africa, JSA, Volunteered at local hospital for 3 summers.

3) Should i commit to another pharmacy school by May 1st and wait until the decision from Rutgers? or should i stay within Rutgers by going into their BME program and transferring into Pharmacy if i do not get accepted?

Rutgers pharmacy is my top choice so being put on the waiting list made it more difficult for me to decide what to do since i do not know if i am accepted until after May 1st which is the deadlines for all of the other schools to make a decision about whether or not i will attend their school. If anyone can help me find a best solution to what i should do please let me know.

Besides Rutgers, I applied to University of Sciences in Philadelphia, SUNY Buffalo and Northeastern for their 0-6 pharmacy program. I normal applied to all of these school and heard back form USP with an acceptance and from Rutgers for BME and SAS, i am still waiting on my other schools for pharmacy.

4) Is there any way to increase my chances of being accepted? I already sent in my mid-year grades.

Thank You!

I currently go to Rutgers. Im a 4th year and got in from high school. One thing about Rutgers is that they weigh your transcript the most. They especially look at the difficulty of courses like if you took Calculus or AP sciences. If you have a strong science and math grades then you should have a decent chance.

If pharmacy is what you want to do then I advise you to sign with USP. And in the event you do hear back from Rutgers...withdraw from USP. Yes, you might lose the enrollment fee (like $125 i think), but in the long run Rutgers is MUCH cheaper than USP.

Dont do Rutgers BME/SAS if you plan on solely transferring into pharmacy. Transferring into rutgers pharmacy for the 1st professional year is HARD! Acceptance rate is like 1-3% and everyone that got in as transfers were basically 4.0 students and a few had degrees.

Unfortunately, I dont know if it is anything you can do unless you know a dean or something. But I really think you should accept USP (if pharmacy is what you want) and then just withdraw in the event Rutgers accepts you.

I'm a 6th year pharmacy student at Rutgers. I transferred in after 2 years of undergrad at Rutgers- I followed the curriculum posted here (https://pharm.rutgers.edu/content/pharmd_curriculum). Take the advice "The MTL" gave you about accepting USP and then changing to Rutgers if you get in. I didn't have a 4.0 or a previous degree and neither did 4 other people I know who transferred in, but it is very competitive. You need at least a 3.5, outside pharmacy work such as being a technician, you need to take the PCAT exam, and you need to make sure you take EVERY class outlined in the prerequisites from the link I posted.

Not only is Rutgers cheaper but the curriculum seems to be stronger than many other pharmacy schools. I've spoken to students from schools such as USP and it seems like Rutgers also has more opportunities in clinical pharmacy and pharmacy industry.
