questions about dmd and dds

So I will most likely be attending a school that will award me a DMD agree. I might come back to practice in Texas where DMD is less known. How should I explain to others what DMD is.

A lot of them just automatically assume it is like the DO alternative to MD which is not true. Anyone have a good way of explaining this to others who are not familiar with DMD.
Also, does it affect my chances of landing a job in Texas because most dentists in Texas have a DDS?

Most of your patients are going to call you their Dentist. They won't even know which degree you have most likely.

Just mention Harvard wanting to change their name of the degree awarded to dentists and your patients will be so impressed that your name and Harvard are in the same sentence. lol
