Hello. I'm taking step 3 next week and had a coupe questions I hoped you all could help me with regarding the CCS.

1). Is it necessary to advance the clock or can I just keep hitting "update with next available results"?
2). When I'm about to exit a case on a patient I've had on the ward is it necessary to DC all IV's, routine vitals etc?
3). In the USMLEWORLD explanations it always says "follow up with patient in one month", or 2 weeks. However when I get to that final orders screen I can't seem to schedule a follow up?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

hey sorry for the late reply!
1.hitting the r/w with next available results will not get u the results .so its not a good idea.either look at what time the results will be availabe and advance the clock to that time or reevluate the case in some 2hrs or 8hrs according to the case.
2.Before discontinuing the meds look at the simulated time.if it is < 24hrs and the 5 mt screen came dont d/c the meds.but if the patient is better and has been in the hosp for > 24hrs u may d/c the ivs and all.Always look at the simulated time!!!dont d/c iv very early say for eg.the anaphylaxis case pt gets better in like 1 hr but dont d/c the iv until 24hrs simulated time ,so if 5 mts screen pops up early just leave the iv meds as such.
3. once the 5mts screen comes we cannot schedule an appoinment. The only thing we can do at this point is to write down the orders we left.Or we can use the later option.say there is a hypothyroid patient and u wanna get a f/u appmt in one month but the 5mt screen already came, just type TSH and choose the later option u'll see a calender just schedule a date 30 days after the current day.in this way u can schedule a f/u appoinment. In othercases once on the 5mt screen u cannot schedule f/u.
hope this helps good luck on ur exam👍
