Hey everyone,

I have a couple of questions concerning LOR's:

1) The professor I do research with is under the psychology department, but he teaches classes such as cognitive psychology, physiological psychology, research methods, etc. He has a phd in neuroscience. Would he be considered as a science professor?

2) How do you submit your LOR's to dental schools? I have always wondered this. I have read lots of posts but no one has ever mentioned how they submit these letters. Do you just get a physical copy of the letter from your professor and scan it and send it with your application?

Thank you for your time!

1) What do you mean by sincere professor? If you meant to spell science, no, that isn't a science professor.

2) Many people use a service called interfolio. It allows you to request letters from professors. The professor securely submits the letter and interfolio stores it. When the application is open in June, you are then able to send the letters to different schools. As a side note, interfolio is useful in general, because you can reuse letters for different things (jobs, internships) without bothering the professor multiple times.

Alternatively, the AADSAS application itself allows you to request letters from professors. Either way, the professor submits the letter and you don't see it. If you have an option to see it, you should always waive the right. It takes away from the merit of the letter if you have read it.

Sincere professor? 😕
AADSAS has a section on LOR. You need to request a LOR and AADSAS sends a link to your professor with instructions on how to upload it.

@Master Yoda @Wolfbarker

Thank you for clearing things up. Autocorrect strikes once again... Science. Looks like I'm going to have to find at least 2 other science professors for LOR's.

Psychology is counted as a non-science for AADSAS. I recommend 2 science, 1 non science, and a dentist. This fulfills most requirements for schools. Also sometimes schools waive the requirements for a letter depending if they want 3 science only versus the 2 science 1 non science.

@Alpha Centauri

Does it have to be from a general dentist? Or can it be from an oral surgeon or any other dental speciality as well?
