Do I leave the PS in 'left aligned' or 'justified'??

And if anyone can give a feedback/proofread for my PS, it would be very much appreciated. Willing to PM you guys 🙂. Thanks in advance fellow future dentists 🙂.

I'm not sure it matters because AADSAS doesn't really allow formatting. I can't try to edit mine at this point, but I don't even think that you can indent to begin paragraphs, for example.

Ah that's right, you have to manually type it in right? With the 4500 character limit including spaces. It's not a application where you simply put in a .docx?

I had to start omitting words and sentences because I was past the 4500 🙁. I was at 4900 and now I'm stuck at 4600. T_T

Is there a typical length for an admission essay? I know the limit is 4,500 words, but what is considered 'average'?

Not sure about a typical length, but I wouldn't know if it even matter... though I'm sure a short and concise PS would be nice for the ADCOM since they probably go through hundreds, if not thousands. Mines was 4500 characters on the dot. Also, no uploading allowed. You can type it in the box as @Illumident mentioned, but it's probably better to work on it in Word, Google Docs, or what have you, and then copy and paste it into the AADSAS application.

Best of luck~

How do most people go about getting feedback on their PS? I can manage correcting the grammar and punctuation, but my husband was way harsh when he critiqued mine. He basically told me that it was completely wrong and that I should toss it in the bin and start over. My mom and BFF told me the opposite, so it's hard to get an idea of what sort of impression and ADCOM would have.

I'm sure you meant characters and not words, but don't make the same mistake as me. I had a kick ass PS and realized I screwed up after I finished with 4,490 words. I was not very happy that week...

I thought it was words... so 4,500 words would be about six pages. That seemed super long to me, especially having worked in HR, but I reasoned that dental school was very important and competitive, hence the length. 4,500 characters is roughly 750 words, or one page. Big difference, so I am glad you brought this up. It seems counter intuitive, but the shorter space actually makes writing my PS way easier.

Send it over and I'll critique it anonymously.
