Questions About Politics in Interview?

do they ask questions about politics in interviews? i feel like generally im not a politics type of person so i'll know basics but not too much in depth about current issues/debates.
should i study them?

I somewhat disagree with the other commenters.

They won’t ask you directly what your political leanings are, but that doesn’t mean the adcoms are apolitical in the interview. For example, i know from personal experience that interviewers aren’t afraid to discus public health policy, and although I’d love to believe they assess you objectively, I find it hard to believe that they separate their personal political bias from the responses you give.

Just don’t say anything that is controversial either way if such questions arise... like don’t say “we should have universal healthcare” nor “Medicare and Medicaid are the worst! Lol. Overall, just avoid bringing up any topic or question that could lead you to having to discuss a controversy of policy.

Try to be as neutral as you possibly can be.

Excellent response, DentTreadOnMe, and I agree with it 100 percent and also agree that interviewers do find it hard to separate personal political bias from the response you give, Stay neutral, it is impossible to know exactly what the interviewer will ask, take you time before answering any question to avoid saying something you might regret.

That's pretty political.

From an attorney, questions outside of qualifications and germane background to your application, say about political affiliation and/or candidates, tend to be viewed as illegal and are strict no-no’s from both an admissions and HR perspective...

That’s pretty easy to answer like any other interview question though. I kinda figured OP meant actually asking about parties and politicians and stuff.
