Hello,

I wanted to know more about what MSTP students do after going through their med and graduate school. I heard that many go into (1) residencies then perhaps fellowship, (2) post-doctoral training and something I recently heard called (3) PSTP.

I was wondering if someone could tell me more about PSTP. I heard it's sort of like a shortened residency with more emphasis on research. Please correct me if I am wrong. My questions are:

(1) What is the length of a PSTP?
(2) Do you get to be a licensed physician after PSTP?
(3) Is the research in PSTP more basic science, clinical or others (or can you choose)? i.e. How might the research be different from what you may do as a post-doc?

Thank you very much! I would also greatly appreciate if anyone has good resources or links to know more about post-MSTP tracks.
