A friend of mine just graduated from temple dental in May which is where I will be attending in August. The tool kit that we are required to buy for first year is like $7500 and my friend said he has the entire thing and will give it to me for very cheap. Would it be a bad idea to take a used kit? would any of the stuff be out dated? and more importantly would the school even allow me to do this?

Good question any follow up?

temple has switched over to leasing our instruments. I dont think its an option on whether you can or cannot pay for the leasing fee. I believe our class was the first to start paying the leasing fee

When I went to UCLA, our kit was $17,000 IIRC. We didn't use at least half that stuff. If you're allowed to (we weren't), I'd probably buy the used kit. Just see what's in it, and what it would cost you to replace the "missing" items. See if it's still a good deal after replacement cost.
