Is there a large need for traumatologists is medium sized cities ~ 250K in the private sector? If so, what is the lifestyle typically like? Does it differ drastically from ortho surgeons of different disciplines? It is my understanding that many traumatologists tend to work in large level 1 trauma centers that are attached to academic teaching facilities. And now the preverbial salary question...obviously those in academic settings typically earn less than those in the private setting...do traumatologist earn more or less than the typical ortho surgeon. They obviously perform some complex, interesting procedures. Any information is very much appreciated. Thanks.
