Hey all,
I'm considering an SMP for medical school because my GPA is a little low. Because of my husband's career, I need to pick to be able to move to a city where he can work and stay there for more than just a couple years. So, this leads me to look into SMP's with really high linkage programs in New Orleans, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia or Boston. Does anyone have any suggestions? I love New Orleans, but I am having trouble navigating Tulane's website. Did anyone do an SMP there? Can you tell me about it? Thanks!!!!!

Tulane's program is only for reapplicants (not sure if that means only to Tulane, or to any school) fwiw.

You're thinking of the Anatomy Certification program. The website for the program is here:

And the SDN thread on the program is here

I'm currently attending this program, so feel free to PM me with any questions. This program does require you to have been previously waitlisted at another medical school (not necessarily Tulane).

Bad news is that Tulane is the only high linkage SMP I can think of in a major city. The other high linkage programs I know of are EVMS, Rosalind Franklin, and LLU. There are SMPs in Philidelphia (Drexel IMS) and Washington DC (Georgetown) but most of their graduates go on to different medical schools. Those programs are also riskier for someone with a low GPA. There is also VCU's certificate program: it's in the suburban wastes of Virginia, but its definitely commuting distance to DC. Only the top few percent of the program gets in, however.

Good Luck.

Perrotfish,

Does that mean you have to be waitlisted from one cylce prior or good you be on a waitlist concurrently while applying to the program? -thanks.

You can be waitlisted concurrently while applying to the program. As long as you've been waitlisted at a US medical school.

What's LLU's SMP? The physiology or anatomy ms?
