Hey Guys,

I might not even have to worry about this but I have a question about Tulane. On their website, it says that in order to hold a place in their class you have to submit a $500 deposit by May 15th which in NON REFUNDABLE. I know for a fact that this goes against AAMC guidelines concerning admission acceptance to medical schools. So my question is, is this just a "you'll say you'll take a spot and in the class and pay the $500 when you ultimately decide to go to tulane (May 15th)" or "you pay the $500 and if you decide you don't want to go to tulane you're screwed"?

I think the 500$ is non-refundable after May 15, but up until that date, I believe you can give up your seat and get your money back.

Oh by the way, I grew up in Southeast Missouri.... I'll be going to Tulane next year since I deferred.

Hey, congrats on the acceptance and maybe i'll see you in '05.

Here is the link where I got the "non-refundable part"

http://www.som.tulane.edu/admissions/process.html#acceptance

So I really don't know what's up with that, I should probably just email the school.

Where in Southeast Missouri did you grow up? (I am from Southern IL)

Hmm... well I do remember that I didn't have to pay the 500$ yet because I'm deferring.... so who knows.

I grew up in Dexter... #1 meth lab capital of the US back in 1997-98... I was so pissed that meth put my town on the map before I had a chance to do so!

We used to drive over to Cairo and party with the bikers, and I took the ACT in Illinois once. 🙂

Its only non-refundable AFTER May 15th...If you get in before May 15th, you simply write a letter telling them that you want to hold a place in the class. On May 15th you need to reconfirm that place with a check for 500 dollars...which is then credited to your tuition. If you pay the money, then decide to go elsewhere after the 15th...you are screwed. That is pretty much the case at all med schools...though 500 bucks isn't always the fee. At Gtown it is like 900 bucks.

Another question for you guys sending out the Tulane secondary,

Are you leaving off the list of schools at the end of the copy of the AMCAS they make you print out and send? I think it is stupid to include it.

When did you guys get a secondary for Tulane? I haven't gotten anything from them yet.

It's a fill it out whenever type thing...

As long as you sent them an AMCAS you can fill out the secondary.

Not like it matters, they make you send a paper copy of AMCAS along with your secondary.

I sent the list of all the schools I'm applying to. It didn't seem to hurt me any, and they didn't ask during the interview.

i did print selection only, and printed out amcas in two parts without the list but with the confiction/felony part of the application.
