This is what it says for usc requirement i'm confused about

Required courses, semester hours with laboratory required: eight units each - one year's completed course - of general biology (zoology), inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physics; other courses: English composition (eight units or one year), philosophy, history or fine arts (eight units or one year).

What does it mean eight units or one year? Is one year considered FALL and SPRING, or is it FALL, SPRING and SUMMER. At my community college we have semester system so only have fall (18 weeks), spring (18 weeks) and summer (summer is short 6 weeks). And in semester units each philosophy class is 3 units each. I've taken two classes a total of 6 units semester of philosophy.

Do i need more philosophy classes? 🙁

1 Unit = 1 Credit hour

1 credit hour = 1 hour/week per semester

1 credit hour (Sem) = 1.5 credit hours (quarter)

1 year = 2 semesters (or 8+ credits)

or also...

1 year = 3 quarters (or 12+ credits)
