questions for interviewers?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i asked this questions as well..

dont you love how everyone looks at it but no one responds?

I asked mine about why they chose to work at X school, why they chose their specialty, and what a typical day is like for them.

I asked what most of their alums are doing these days. I also asked a student interviewer what his most difficult experience was so far in medical school. I asked a doctor why it is that medical students talk about the difficulty of med school but doctors only seem to talk about the difficulty of residency. I think the best thing to do is ask stuff you're actually curious about.

while general questions are ok, i think it is very important to ask questions that are specific to the school
i.e. about grading, competetion, class size
or matching, etc
even if you sort of know the answer, feel free to ask it again. it shows the interviewer that you are interested in this school in particular!

I've asked some interviewers what they feel are the unique strengths and weaknesses of their school. Even though you sometimes get repetitive answers (the people!), you can get useful info from what they do or don't say.

If there are obvious answers that you already know, you can say: "Aside from X and Y, what is a strength/weakness of this school?"

It's particularly useful when they grill you about what you're looking for/the list of schools you applied to.

I asked very specific questions also regarding the school I was at that day. For instance, at Miami I asked abot the work they did with a specific research institute nearby. It shows you've done your homework on the school.

Good luck to everyone!
