Hey guys!
I just wanted to start a new thread as I know you are all thinking about applications. If you have any questions, please post and hopefully people have some insight on some answers.
I am a first year in my Au.D. program and I am by no means a "genius" in audiology, but if I knew what I know now.. I would have taken some extra classes in undergrad.
I used this site a lot when I was looking into programs and applying. So I want to lend a hand where it is needed.

Let me know!! Thanks!

Which classes would you have taken in undergrad?

I would have taken a real physics class not an "intro to physics", as it is handy in my auditory science class. I would have also taken anatomy and physiology instead of the anatomy class that is included in the speech path coursework. I would have also done more biology than just intro to biology.

Hi guys,

I have been reading up on posts about applying to the AuD program and i have learned so much already! I was wondering if I could get advice about which schools to apply to? I am worried about my GPA because i know for suree it is low compared to others.. plus I will be applying from Canada..so right now I am thinking of just getting into "a" program...
- My 4 years gpa is 2.75 (bad second year)
-my last two years is about a 3.3
- i will be writing GRE in 2 weeks
- I have my 3 letters which are good
- I have some related work experience

But i am just so worried about which schools i should apply to that are not as competitive?

I applied to Audiology school as a back up to SLP schools. My gpa was not so hot either, like a 2.9. I ended up getting into:
AT STILL
Salus
Nova
UAMS

I know for a fact Salus minimum GPA requirement is a 2.5. It's a 2.75 at AT Still so you make the cut. I ended up getting off the wait list at an SLP school at the very last minute so I didn't attend any of the school listed but I did visit Nova and AT Still and they seem have very nice programs. I really think you can get in somewhere. My GRE score wasn't great either btw. I'm sure if you apply to any of the schools above you will be fine. Another thing is I looked up post by a former member here named Teucer, his GPA was the same as yours and he listed all the schools he got into. I think he had Texas Tech and couple others on the list as well. Anyways, good luck!

Thanks AUDwannaBE! By the way, do you remember where he posted? Also..for Salus i read they want you to have observation hours which I don't have yet.. can I do that later and send in my application now?

Please, either create a topic or just post this one one thread. I've seen you post this same thing three or four times, now. We've got a small posting population, you'll get the best result by just posting a thread instead of leading a bunch of other threads astray.

Umm.. as I mentioned I am new to this site. I didn't know people reply quick and have helpful advice. Besides, I didn't post it in random threads. It all where they talk about applying to the Audiology program. So if you have something helpful to say then by all means please add it. Otherwise don't put other people down, thanks.

It was helpful. I gave you a tip regarding the best method for getting replies and tried to tell you a little about the community, advice which clearly fell on deaf ears (pun intended).

hi audi2011. welcome to the forum. why don't you update us on what your GRE scores are when you get them. that'll give us a better idea on where you'll stand. so far, we only know what your GPA is. most of us (probably even non) are on any admissions committee, and nothing we say will guarantee anything. what background do people writing your letters have? what are they writing about? what are the related work experiences you spoke of?

get back to us, we'll be happy to share our thoughts/opinions. good luck with the application process. it's a very stressful time, i bet, probably even more for you as you are applying from another country with different system. 🙂
