Ok simple question here, you may or may not have answered before. Granted this comes weighted with everyone's individual opinion.

What is the most important thing to learn as an undergraduate in a pre-med program? Thanks in advance guys!

In all honesty, I would learn 2 things

1st: Learn how to study efficiently

While.......

2nd: Making sure to live life as much as possible.

As Tom Petty put it so perfectly "You have four years to be irresponsible here. Relax. Work is for people with jobs. You'll never remember class time, but you'll remember time you wasted hanging out with your friends. So, stay out late. Go out on a Tuesday with your friends when you have a paper due Wednesday. Spend money you don't have. Drink til sunrise. The work never ends, but college does"

Find the balance and you will go far AND have fun 😉

Chemical Engineering With Biotech Focus

1. Good math skills
2. Good physics skills
3. Good chemistry skills
4. Good organic chemistry skills
5. Decent biology skills
6. Good logic skills
7. Knows how to Google.
8. Highly effective learner. Know what to care about and what not to give a s*** about.
9. When it comes to the MCATs, probably 5 hours of review per week for 3 months is sufficient.
10. Even if you don't get in to med school, you wont be stuck as a lab tech.

Most important thing academically: MCAT

Most important thing personally: living it up.

Most important subjects: basic accounting and personal finance.

I would say: 1) learning how to use time effectively and 2) knowing how to study hard and party hard--you only got 4 years to enjoy yourself. Afterwards, you really are an adult.

How to study efficiently as well as how to take time for yourself when necessary.

Agree with all the study folk. That's what your undergrad curriculum is supposed to teach you. Once you find your method, I should be able to hand you a few typed pages of gibberish (and maybe a diagram of gibberish if it's biochem 🙂 ) and you should feel confident that you could learn it.

And, as above, remember that studying isn't everything; live your life. That's not so much a lesson for undergrad as it is a life lesson though.

Learn to learn.
