The website is extremely hard to find direct information on so though I'd ask here. I'm cautiously looking at attending OCPM starting in 2011.

What month do classes start each year? Is it August of the first year with graduation being May of 4th year? That would make it about 4 years of study spread over 5 year timeframe right?

It would be 4 years of study included in 5 different calendar years. Just like when you were a kid with public schools.

If you start in 2011 and hopefully graduate in 2015 you will have been there part of 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and part of 2015.

You must have started your undergrad in a spring semester around January. I imagine that's why you are confused.

I don't go to OCPM but I can help answer this question. School is only 3 years and about 10 months...depends on when you start in August and end in May. 5 years?

I'm currently a third year student at OCPM. 1st to make things clear im doing well heading full speed toward graduation with no academic concerns whatsoever.

I suggest that if you have the option of attending another school take it. Not a day goes by I don't regret my decision to accept OCPM's offer with scholarship and I didn't feel like transferring away from my new found friends so yeah.... I really can't stress that enough DON'T DO IT.

This school does everything bass ackwards because ALL of the administrators and SOME of the profs (enough to affect your experience here) are D bags. The weather is horrendous here and wreaks complete havoc on your schedule and your body. Ultimately the school just wants your money they could give a crap about the quality of your education or even your safety. If you DO decide to come here don't whine and say no one warned you. That is all. GOOD LUCK! :luck:

Podvamp: Thanks for the warning...

As someone strongly considering OCPM this is not what I want to hear, any other OCPM students have any input.

I am very happy at OCPM, and choosing to attend here was the best decision of my life. The faculty is top notch and the facility is immaculate. Do i have some gripes? Of course, but i take the bad with the good.

I am a 3rd year student and Ive been very happy at OCPM. I think that each person must take responsibility for their own education and learning. There are a million things OCPM could do differently to maximize our education, but its ultimately my responsibility to learn. They present us everything we need to know. We all have the same opportunities to learn it. Its up to us to know it.

Many in my class are indeed crybabies, but i suspect it is that way at every school. If you mind your own business, and associate with positive people, you will have a positive attitude and most likely a positive experience.

I have been impressed with the faculty we have here. Especially many of the guest lecturers from cleveland clinic and such. I feel that the school has great resources in this area which greatly benefit us. Some of our professors arent great "teachers" but this was definitely the case in college. If you cant figure out how to learn from a textbook and the internet, etc. then you would struggle regardless.

Thats not to say that all faculty members are wonderful. But again, you take the good with the bad and work hard to learn.

I do wish we had more hardcore general medicine type rotations. I feel very weak in heart sounds, lung sounds, etc. I constantly review old medicine notes, but we dont have a lot of experience "taking care of patients" with systemic illness, at least as a 3rd year student. Maybe during our 4th year rotations this will come?

It is what you make it, no matter where you go. You be whatever you want to be. Its on you. For the most part, I feel like all the schools are on the same playing field.
