HI guys... I'm new in here.. I did couple practice problems and this is what I got... Please help me verify my answer... if it's incorrect, please explain for me? Chemistry was 12 yrs ago for me... Thanks a lot.
1) Which of the following statement correctly describes the hydronium-hydroxide balance in the given solution?
A) A bases, [OH-] = [H3O+]
B) In bases, [OH-] is greater than [H3O+]
C) In acids, [OH-] is greater than [H3O+]
D) In bases, [OH-] is less than [H3O+]
E) In neutral solutions, [H3O+] = [H2O].
****I put B as an answer...
2) An acid and base react to forn a salt and water in a👎 _______ reaction.
A) Dissociation
B) Ionization
C) Oxidation
D) Reduction
E) Neutralization
**** I put E as an answer...
3)The function of a buffer is to
A) Maintain a neutral pH
B) act as a strong accid
C) change color at the end point of a titration
D) be a strong base
E) maintain the pH of a solution
*****My answer is E
3) A 10.0 mL of 0.121 M H2SO4 is neutralized by 17.1 mL of KOH solution. the molarity of the KOH solution is
A) 0.207 M
B) 0.142 M
C) 0.428 M
D) 0.4141 M
E) 0.0708 M
**** I used the M1V1=M2V2 and got the answer E.
4) Identify each of the following compounds as an acid, base, or neither
A) CO3 2- -----i put neither
B) CN- ----- i put neither
