How do you guys approach the books?

Do you read and take notes?

Do you read, take chapter quiz and take note of questions you missed?

Do you take the tests in the back of the book (or ones provided on the CD)?

Just wondering what's the most effective way to utilize the two books.

My advice is to stay away from the Barron's book. There are just so many errors!

As on how one should study, I read it over, wrote it, and thought about it until I knew it. They're in LTM, now.

I think OP is referring to Barrons AP biology... which (from what I hear) is an excellent resource.

But if OP is talking about barrons DAT book, yes I agree, it does have many errors (well except its PAT tutorial, its pretty good)

To OP ~ I only used Cliffs AP, I read it multiple times, and when I came across chapters I was weak on (like immunology), I opened my biology texts (raven, 7th edition and some Campbell's) and read up on it..... I didn't take any notes, I just highlighted key things on the book.
