I know this section is optional, but do we really have to provide a reason for every organization/volunteer experience?? It makes sense for long term stuff like work or research. Any thoughts?

No. I think it's kind of dumb and they should get rid of it. It's really only relevant for employment situations where the answer could potentially be "I got fired for sleeping with my boss's 16yo daughter and embezzling $250K from the pension fund."

Nobody cares why you left your job helping to organize the sorority blood drive..."um...it was over."

So you're saying it's ok to leave the 'reason for leaving' blank?

Leave it blank. It will clutter your "CV" with unnecessary text. My dean's office explicitly said to leave it blank because it is unnecessary.
