Questions Regarding Chapman points

My OMT pocket manual states that the chapman points for

Colon is Anterior iliotibial band

Prostate, broad ligament Lateral iliotibial band

COMQUEST question stated the answer for a colon chapman point as "lateral thigh."

I assume they are getting their information from SAVERESE which also states "lateral thigh"


The Former chapman points are referenced from "The pocket manual of OMT" 2nd.

Any clues on what I should go with?

It seems the "lateral thigh" is an oversimplification of the exact position, being used roughly as a synonym for "iliotibial band." The question you're likely to get on the COMLEX regarding the colon, however, is where a point would be produced given a dysfunction lower down, towards cecum/sigmoid, vs higher up, towards flexures. In this case you would approach the question by mentally "flipping down" the colon.

I've seen several variations on the location of the prostate point, including the superior pubis. Majority of sources say lateral or posterior margin of the iliotibial band, so go with that.

So the prostate point would be in a similar location to the ileocecal junction point or the sigmoid colon point? on either side?
