Hi everyone!!

I'm a Taiwanese student studying in Tokyo, Japan as an international student. Recently i got an email from RCSI of noticing the upcoming interview.

Here is a few questions regarding the RCSI,

1. MONEY: As an international student, non-Eu students are required to pay around 43,500 Euros a year, and that's just the tuition fee. I dare not to even imagine what will the cost be including the living cost. Here's a question: Do any of you by chance know any banks or organizations that deal with student loans for International students?? Around how much it is to study @ RCSI and live in Dublin?? (Just roughly...I don't plan on living an extremely frugal life but a moderate one 🙂 )

2. SCHOOL ITSELF: Is RCSI a school designed particularily to train for surgeons. I looked at its courses but did not discern any special attention on the part of surgery. Since its name is RC of Surgeons...I imagine that it might be a school to train for surgeons.

3. INTERVIEW: Would you guys mind sharing some specifics with the interview process? The more specific the better. Thank You

THANK YOU GUYS VERY MUCH🙂

RCSI is not specific to surgeons. The name has a historical basis but is as much medicine as surgery.
Residence will cost you 11,000 euros if you count the extras and food etc will add anther 700 to 900 euros a month depending on how you want to live.
Interviewes: Know the rcsi websit inside and out and know why you want to be a doctor. Review your cv and know how to talk about it.
Loans: That is the problem everyone is having. Not much help there.

You might want to consider going home during your time off to save accommodation and living expenses - ie live with your parents for cheaper than living in Ireland doing electives, etc. The cost of a plane ticket home may be smaller than what you spend on living in Ireland for the same duration of time.

And yes ... "Surgeons" (as RCSI is locally termed - get to know the lingo) is not just for surgeons. 🙂

Hi all. I am finishing my first GEP year now and have created a facebook group for those of you interested in meeting and discussing Ireland/RCSI next year.

'The group is RCSI incoming GEP class of 2013'

search for RCSI incoming and it should come up

If you're not GEP, don't worry! all are welcome!

Hey guys getting close to the second round interviews and I had a couple questions about ethic questions. So what are they looking for in these questions for example when they tell you 3 people get into an accident a drunk driver and 2 passengers and you only have enough blood toi save 2 which do you save? This seems too easy! Any suggestion?

Any other interesting questions that you have been asked would be much appreciated as well!

Thanks

Is that 11k for a whole year (12 months) or just the academic year? I am asking just to know whether going home for the holidays / vacations could shave off a few bucks here and there 🙂

RCSI has never asked ethics questions before; it would be news to me if they've started now.

So I don't know what you guys all think of RCSI... but after the interview.... doesn't it all seem like a joke. Like their standards are soooo low. They only wanted me to have an 80 and the interview was a joke. I have had job interviews much more rigorous than that. But that is just my opinion, I am sure it is a very competent school.... but it needs to get funding somewhere right?
