Questions to ask physicists

What types of questions can I ask physicists during interviews? I feel like I don't know enough physics to ask intelligent questions and they've all seemed (rightfully) very in to the physics aspect of things. I don't want to sound too clueless but still want to ask good questions.

It's really not expected that you will ask crazy complicated physics related questions at most programs. I usually just asked about the physics education curriculum and the general interactions between the physics staff and the residents.

Depending on your interest in physics and the institution you can ask about what research is going on in the physics department. (Might want to scout ahead towards if there is any physics research; asking about it if there isn't any would probably not go over that well.)
